Business Systems Analyst – IT (HRIS Focus, On-Site, No Remote)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Business Systems Analyst

Organizational Relationship: Reports to the Director of Information Technology

Position Status: Non-exempt, full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Pay Range: 65,000 to 75000

Position Summary: The Business Systems Analyst supports and promotes the organization’s use of enterprise business systems; increasing institutional intelligence and effectiveness, and helping the business adapt to change.

Duties & Responsibilities: Including, but not limited to:

Business Systems Analysis

· Consult with University administration, staff, and faculty, as well as with vendors, to assess business and process requirements. Determine information systems requirements and develop specifications and procedures.

· Facilitate communication and coordination between business units and IT necessary to implement technical solutions to business requirements.

Data Analysis/Reporting

· Ascertain business objectives and gather report requirements. Develop specifications. Develop new and modify existing reports. Assist others with reporting and report specifications.

· Standardize and document reports and data elements across the University.

Technical Support

· Assist end users in using enterprise business systems, promoting effective and proper use.

· Develop and maintain training documentation and programs. Conduct training sessions.

· Document, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues. Escalate issues as necessary to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.

Administrative

· Organize, facilitate, and conduct meetings and committees related to information systems and data governance.

· Establish and document policies and procedures related to the use of information systems.

· Manage projects related to information systems; manage goals and milestones and allocate or recommend resources necessary for success.

· Produce regular progress reports and status updates.

· Recommend and facilitate ongoing professional development for end-users, such as training, user group participation, and/or conference attendance.

Professional

· Adhere to departmental and University policies and procedures.

· Maintain a solid understanding of the business functions of the University.

· Stay abreast with regulatory and reporting requirements affecting the University, including those imposed by federal, state, and accreditation authorities and organizations.

· Actively engage in committee business and action items. Participate in relevant professional organizations, user groups, and conferences. Participate in formal training as required and appropriate.

· Stay abreast with current trends and developments in software, Internet technologies, threat vectors, and other areas related to the sphere of responsibilities.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's or higher degree in MIS or other relevant field, and/or at least 3 years of experience working with enterprise business systems in a relevant field preferred.

· Experience working with database applications required. Programming experience preferred.

· Experience working in the higher education industry preferred.

· Minimum of one year of experience analyzing data and producing reports.

Knowledge and Skills:

· Analytical, logical, and organizational. Effective problem-solver.

· Communication and elicitation, both oral and written.

· Effective planning, facilitation, and management.

· Business process analysis and modeling.

· Software and Information Technology systems and architecture.

· PowerShell coding, SQL queries and database concepts/theory. Computer Science and/or software development lifecycle preferred.

· Data analysis software such as Microsoft Excel. Reporting software such as Crystal Reports or Microsoft Access. Experience working with ERP/SIS is preferred.

Environment: Varying pace from moderate to very busy, service-oriented, multi-cultural. Extensive contact with support staff, faculty, students, prospective students, church leaders, and the public.

Environmental/Other Requirements:

· Character: Must embody Christian character and be actively involved in a local church.

· Possess a valid Driver’s License, auto insurance, and a suitable vehicle for travel to remote sites.

· Mental Demands: Able to operate well in a “busy” environment where multiple conversations/activities may be occurring at one time.

· Visual Demands: Long hours of viewing computer monitor screens.

· Physical Demands: Able to lift, grasp, stoop, and carry up to thirty pounds, as required.

· Environment: IT offices. Fluctuating noise levels from computers and network hardware, discussions, and guests.

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong communicator; able to work with faculty, staff, and leadership
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and works independently
  • Highly tech-savvy with strong systems knowledge
  • Experience with UKG or similar HRIS systems (payroll, reporting, and data management)
  • Familiar with Anthology or higher education systems
  • Knowledge of Windows Server environments
  • Strong skills in data analysis, reporting, and data mining
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills
  • Experience with ERP/SIS systems a plus
  • Full-time, in-office (Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • No remote work available
  • Strong Christian faith aligned with the University’s mission and values (Required)
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in MIS or other relevant field.
