JOB SUMMARY

A Busser at La Posta de Mesilla plays a key role in maintaining a clean and organized dining environment, supporting the waitstaff, and ensuring that guests have a positive dining experience. The main responsibilities typically include:

  • Clearing Tables: Quickly and efficiently clearing dirty dishes, utensils, glassware, and napkins from tables once guests have finished their meals.
  • Setting Tables: Ensuring tables are properly set with clean linens, silverware, glassware, and condiments before guests are seated.
  • Maintaining Cleanliness: Keeping dining areas, floors, and restrooms clean and tidy throughout the shift, including sweeping or mopping if necessary.
  • Supporting the Front-of-House Operations: Assisting with restocking supplies such as napkins, utensils, and drinkware, and ensuring the overall smooth operation of the dining room.

A busser typically works in close collaboration with managers, servers and kitchen staff to ensure a seamless, efficient, and pleasant dining experience for all guests.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy tubs, and move quickly between tables. Bussers often need to carry stacks of dishes and perform tasks that require physical effort.
  • Communication Skills: Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with managers, kitchen staff, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Teamwork: Bussers must work well as part of a team, assisting servers and other staff members to maintain efficient service and a positive dining experience.
  • Attention to Detail: The ability to spot cleanliness issues, set tables properly, and ensure that guests' needs are met without being intrusive.
  • Organization: Ability to keep the dining area tidy and organized, with a focus on efficiency and preparation for the next set of guests.
  • Customer Service Orientation: While they aren't typically the main point of contact with guests, bussers should possess a friendly, helpful demeanor and be ready to assist in any way possible to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment: Restaurants can get busy, and bussers must be able to work under pressure while maintaining a high level of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prior Experience (Preferred but not required): Previous experience in a food service or restaurant setting is often helpful, but on-the-job training is provided.
