Summary:
Responsible for quoting and purchasing stock parts, fabricated parts, and equipment assigned by class. Proactively resolving issues that arise regarding lead time and availability and expediting purchase orders.
Responsibilities:
- Providing part quotes to Aftermarket group including lead time, product availability, and price.
- Purchasing parts determined by sales orders and stock requirements, including negotiating price, lead time,
- quality and sourcing alternative suppliers.
- Tracking and expediting purchase orders.
- Act as main point of contact for and manage relationships with suppliers, solving problems and issues as they arise, including correction of out-of-spec parts and invoice issues.
- Communicate with internal sales stakeholders regarding pricing, lead time and availability of equipment.
- Collaborate with internal Engineering group to fully understand their project needs.
- Utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software to manage suppliers, create purchase orders, create jobs, complete necessary status reports, and update necessary equipment and job information.
- Maintain updated promise dates and proactively communicate schedule changes.
- Create Engineering Change Orders as needed.
- Run reports and take necessary action to ensure proper inventory control for stock parts.
- Initiate vendor non-disclosure agreements for new sources.
- Participate in yearly physical inventory.
- Other small business purchases as needed.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment/Travel:
- This position will require being in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
- This position requires the use of general office equipment including but not limited to computer, telephone,
- printer and copy machine.
- Occasional (10-20%) car travel to local or nearby vendor facilities or short duration overnight travel to out-of-town suppliers is expected.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain management, preferred.
Experience/Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing fabricated parts and assemblies is preferred.
- Ability to read technical/construction drawings and Bill of Materials. Detail-orientation is required.
- Familiarity with welding and fabrication machining, materials and practices preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be assertive and to negotiate with vendors respectfully.
- Proactive problem-solving and relationship-building skills.
- Mechanical aptitude, ability to understand and interest in mechanical systems.
- Strong proficiency using Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and ERP systems. Mastery of Kinetic/Epicor is a plus.
- Ability to analyze data to make well-informed decisions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
