Position Summary

Twin Disc is seeking a detail‑oriented and results‑driven Buyer (6‑Month Contract) to support our Purchasing team in Racine, Wisconsin. This contract role is responsible for procuring materials and commodities at the lowest total cost while meeting quality, delivery, and production requirements.

The Buyer will manage supplier relationships, resolve supply chain issues, support inventory optimization initiatives, and collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and other internal teams.

This is a temporary, full‑time contract assignment with an anticipated duration of six (6) months.

Key Responsibilities

• Procure assigned materials and commodities to support production schedules and business needs
• Balance inventory levels and costs through sound purchasing decisions
• Maintain ownership of assigned part numbers and supplier performance during the contract period
• Ensure material availability and proactively address potential supply chain disruptions
• Resolve issues related to quality, delivery, expediting, receiving, and invoicing
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers; hold vendors accountable for quality, cost, and delivery
• Support pricing negotiations and contribute to cost reduction and performance improvement efforts
• Monitor supplier performance and escalate risks or re‑sourcing needs as appropriate
• Maintain accurate part parameters and purchasing data within the ERP system (JDE or equivalent)
• Utilize ERP tools (e.g., Supply & Demand, system messages) to identify issues and support corrective actions
• Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing on sourcing decisions, specifications, and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
• Participate in Daily Management and cross‑functional meetings, providing purchasing and supply chain insights
• Support inventory reduction and cost control initiatives
• Coordinate with Quality to resolve receiving inspection issues and recover costs for vendor‑related scrap or rework.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Accounting, or a related field
• Open to new graduates.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• ERP system experience required (JDE preferred)
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
• Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Work Environment

• Primary work location: Racine, Wisconsin
• Occasional travel to key suppliers
