Job Summary: Negotiates and purchases materials, supplies, and equipment from vendors according to program and company needs. Researches and locates vendors; assures materials and supplies meet industry and company standards. Develops and maintains positive relationships with vendors. Maintains MRP system for purchasing.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Negotiates prices for materials, supplies, and equipment from vendors according to specific program requirements and company needs.

2. Researches and locates vendors meeting specific needs for possible negotiations.

3. Ensures materials and supplies meet industry and company standards.

4. Develops and maintains positive relationships with vendors.

5. Evaluates vendor quotes and determines which will provide the most desirable results.

6. Coordinates on time delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment. Follows up with vendors on a regular basis to determine the status of shipments.

7. Verifies that delivered materials and supplies are correct.

8. Assists in scheduling of manufacturing.

9. Maintains MRP system for purchasing.

10. Creates sales orders, work orders, and purchase orders and determines appropriate requirements for each.

11. Monitors inventory for supply and demand and makes appropriate adjustments.

12. Creates, reviews, and monitors reports regarding purchasing.

13. Reports on the status of orders and shipments.

14. Prepares invoices on finished products and services.

15. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Bachelor’s degree and minimum of two years previous related experience preferred

2. Ability to fully comprehend and interpret engineering blue prints in a manner that will allow the purchase of the correct materials and supplies.

3. Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, co-workers, and supervisor.

4. Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.

5. Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to direction; and taking responsibility for own actions.

6. Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed; performs work independently without being prompted.

7. Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; and work within deadlines.

8. Must maintain high level of integrity and not allow persuasion from any faction to sway from appropriate procedures.

9. Ability to apply common sense understanding and mechanical thought processes to carry out assigned tasks. Ability to react to problems and challenges which yield positive results while preserving engineering, certification, and manufacturing requirements.
