Buyer for Footwear Department - Headquarters

Big R is looking for a candidate who will buy and manage a subset of brands in the Men's, Women's, and Kids footwear dept.

• $80,000-$90,000 Annual Salary
• This is not a remote position; all work is done from Big R’s home office in Pueblo, CO.

Responsibilities:

• Purchase and manage a variety of Men’s Women’s and Kids footwear and brands for Big R’s 37+ locations
• Oversee order placement and tracking to ensure timely receipt of merchandise
• Identify opportunities and risks in season through analyzing sales performance
• Ability to calculate gross margin, turn and OTB
• Review sales results to strategize markdowns and manage aged inventory
• Lead and support buying assistant
• Ability to effectively negotiate with vendors on pricing, RA’s, terms, and discounts
• Ability to forecast market trends and perform consumer research
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
• Build and maintain vendor relationships
• Report to Purchasing Manager daily
• Overnight travel 30+ nights annually
• Other responsibilities as called upon

• Must be able to pass a background check
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or 3+ years buyer, retail management, or category experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and problem solve
• Professional attitude and appearance
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical skills and good judgement
• Detail oriented and self-motivated
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and a team player
• Domestic travel as needed
