AM Signal has team members spanning the western United States, covering a wide territory from Texas to California.

About This Role:

AM Signal is hiring a Buyer I to add to their team. The Buyer I performs purchasing activities in the acquisition of products, equipment, and services in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The Buyer I executes purchase orders for projects and maintains supply inventory levels required to effectively support sales and operations planning and cost objectives. They obtain and review quotes, lead times, terms and conditions, and perform price comparisons, and negotiate when applicable for the lowest total cost and best value. They track and respond to inquiries for order status, changes, order discrepancies, and cancellations. The Buyer I also interacts with vendors to resolve all order inquiries and inconsistencies to include scheduling and expediting deliveries, material and freight issues, missed or late deliveries, and all other pertinent issues.

The Buyer I serves as a liaison between the Purchasing Department and internal customers and suppliers. They respond to questions or complaints, participate in department initiatives, plans, and projects.

The position also requires a strong attention to detail, a results-oriented person, and someone who can easily pivot to handle a variety of tasks. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review sales orders
  • Evaluate inventory levels and sales history to determine product needs
  • Execute Purchase Orders and expedite orders as requested
  • Compare vendor sales order confirmations for accuracy and take corrective action when needed
  • Review all purchase orders issued for accuracy and completeness
  • Pricing: review quotes for price reasonableness, item descriptions, lead times, terms and conditions, conduct price comparisons, update pricing in ERP system (NetSuite).
  • Seeks opportunities to negotiate and improve price points
  • Optimizes purchasing activities and overall performance
  • Follow up on purchase orders for estimated shipping dates, partials, tracking, delays, etc.
  • Maintain open purchase orders with updated status; maintain PO file documents
  • Coordinate order status across the other business teams
  • Share with supplier-vendors information on damaged product, shortages / overages, freight issues; seek resolution
  • Review and generate purchasing and inventory reports as needed
  • Maintain up-to-date pricing in ERP system for all online marketplace product purchases
  • Consider price, specification, availability, and reliability when sourcing for new on-line marketplace supplier-vendors
  • Keep up to date on changes impacting supply and demand
  • Additional duties as required

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Purchasing Administration, negotiation, and Materials Management concepts and practices
  • Knowledge of demand planning and forecasting techniques
  • Takes initiative, ownership, and responsibility for completing tasks
  • Organization, time-management, and problem-solving skills
  • Results-oriented; attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment

  • Math skills to ensure pricing calculations are correct and to avoid unforeseen losses; protect margins

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Operations, Materials Management, Business, or other related discipline, and/or a combination of academic disciplines and equivalent experience
  • 1 – 3 years of Purchasing, Estimating, Sales, and/or Supply Chain/Logistics
  • Knowledge of Traffic Signal & Sign Industry is desirable
  • Experience in a team environment and project management is desirable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint skills
  • Familiarity with the ERP NetSuite platform
  • Customer service experience

Compensation & Benefits:

· Starting pay is based on experience, typically in the $50K to $60K range

· Complete benefits package including 401k with employer matching (5%), health insurance premiums are 100% covered by the employer for the employee, extra for family, and dental/vision insurance is optional.

Work Hours:

Business hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. This position is based in the Denver (Littleton) office and offers flexibility to work remotely 1 day per week.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
