Description:
Position Summary
Hiller Measurements Buyer processes bills of materials (BOM) into purchase orders. The Buyer is responsible for purchasing and tracking orders, ensuring on-time delivery of orders, interfacing with vendors, quoting, and working with management/engineering to ensure project parts requirements and production needs are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Research, evaluate, and determine the best deals for buying parts from given parts lists.

Create, ensure accuracy, and place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of production material as required by forecast and the production schedule.

Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication, and mitigation of future potential problems.

Expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule/inventory changes.

Coordinate material flows throughout product/BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development.

Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns and quality problems with suppliers.

Collaborate with Hiller Engineering Department and provide a high level of customer service.

Ensure and promote compliance to Company and Procurement policies and procedures.

Develops and maintains relationships with vendors.

Negotiate contracts and cost savings on purchases with vendors.

Maintain approved supplier/vendor lists; evaluate suppliers/vendors based on metrics.

Assist with quoting new projects.

Education, Experience, and Other Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related field preferred.

2+ years of experience in procurement.

Experience establishing and employing demand-pull material planning.

Experience with ERP system (Epicor preferred).

Experience in the manufacturing industry and a strong understanding of supply chain management concepts is preferred but not required.

Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident (due to company contracts falling under the ITAR).
Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
