Position Summary:

Responsible for timely procurement of outsourced component parts, raw material or finished products and services consistent with company objectives, policies and ethics in conjunction with achieving the best balance of price, quality, specification requirements and optimal delivery dates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Evaluate and complete requirements for selecting vendors for the purchase of finished products, (i.e. channel letters, awnings, etc.) component parts or raw material while operating within the CPO guidelines.

· Negotiate lead-times, price, payment terms and shipping points with outside vendors to assure timely delivery of quality product.

· Assure timely delivery of products, coordinate the status update of product delivery with Customer Service, and/or supervisors and communicate changes to all concerned parties. Follow up to assure on time delivery of quality product.

· Consult with off premise manufacturing locations in the receipt of vendor-supplied components as necessary to assure production capabilities, prompt production start-up and assure delivery dates without shutdowns and manage the supplier qualification process, and complete 1st article inspections and approvals.

· Work with Estimating to assure product requirements match vendor capabilities.

· Monitor rejected materials to assure that replacements are available as needed to continue production without a shutdown or get proper vendor credit if not needed.

· Database coordination and control of all Purchasing order information and maintenance of other relevant database files for proper system processing including contract pricing, Kanban levels, enter orders, receipts of orders, and closing of orders.

· Continuously source for improvement and/or less costly suppliers.

· Provide relevant documentation to suppliers as it relates to bills of material, engineering/manufacturing specifications and blueprints.

· Obtain the necessary engineering and manufacturing approvals for alternate methods or materials if price, quality and delivery requirements cannot be met.

· Determine ordering requirement based upon gross requirements, Engineering Change Notices or bills of materials. Review with the Materials Manager to assure that all materials will be ordered.

· Maintain Power Link as it relates to the Purchasing system. Enter orders, receipts of orders, and closing of orders.

· Visit vendor plants to analyze facilities and capabilities and manage supplier qualification process.

· Stay informed of new developments in procurement techniques and practices through continuing education.

· Maintain positive Company image with suppliers/vendors through written and verbal contact.

· Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements / Experience:

· Associates degree or equivalent years of related experience

· Minimum of 2 years’ purchasing experience preferred

· Proficient in PC usage, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

· Excellent communication skills

· Ability to read bills of material and engineering drawings as related to addressing questions or concerns that may arise from vendors during the quoting, purchasing or production processes

· Understand business ethics and legalities concerning purchase order transactions

· Ability to handle multiple projects using good judgment

· Self-motivated, independent thinker with high-level of accuracy and attention to detail; tenacious, with strong problem solving and analytical skills

· Able to work within a customer-focused team environment, as well as independently, to provide a high standard of goods and services

· Exhibit professional demeanor in all interactions with internal and external customers and suppliers
