Our state-of-the-art Circularity Center, currently under construction in Houston, TX, will be the first large scale facility in the United States, designed to process a diverse range of post-consumer, commercial, and industrial plastic waste. This innovative center will have the capacity to produce 300 million pounds of custom-formulated feedstock per year and convert it into ISCC-PLUS-certified feedstock suitable for mechanical and advanced recycling applications.

Role Overview

The primary objective of this role is to ensure that Cyclyx has a consistent supply of high value goods and services. The Buyer MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing Cyclyx non-production related materials and services to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and uninterrupted plant operations. Buyer MRO plays a critical role in maintaining continuous plant operations by combining strategic sourcing, supplier management, ERP-enabled purchasing, and cost optimization techniques, often leveraging analytics and technology platforms to enhance procurement efficiency. Expertly engages with, and builds supplier and vendor relationships, while ensuring the resolution of non-conformances. Prioritizes work demands and seek continuous improvement opportunities within the procurement organization. This role requires a hands-on, knowledgeable, highly responsive team player who is a self-starter, resourceful, brings creativity and strong interpersonal skills to the organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Sourcing, negotiating, and maintaining relationships with MRO suppliers, vendors, and service providers to ensure quality, compliance, and cost efficiency
  • Maintaining MRO optimal stock levels, monitoring consumption, issuing purchase orders, and tracking delivery schedules to prevent production downtime
  • Performing price and cost analysis, evaluating alternative procurement options, implementing step pricing for volume discounts, and recommending cost-saving
  • Ensuring procurement activities, suppliers, vendors and service providers align with safety, legal, environmental, and internal corporate standards, including maintaining records of all purchases, contracts, and approvals
  • Monitor, expedite, and MRO items as needed to ensure on time delivery
  • Proactively analyzing historical usage, predicting consumable and spare parts needs, and aligning with maintenance schedules helps prevent unplanned purchases and minimize downtime
  • Work closely with vendors or suppliers to resolve disputes or problems promptly and effectively
  • Collaborate with requisitioners and clarify needs, and work to ensure proper construction of the purchase requisitions
  • Creates or convert purchase requisitions to purchase orders, or directly transact, ensuring accuracy in specification, price, timing and quantities
  • Utilize our approved vendor / supplier list, ensuring compliance with policy and quality standards
  • Maintain appropriate purchasing files and industry documentation
  • Conduct regular MRO inventory reviews and investigate discrepancies
  • Collaborate with plant operations and maintenance, EHS Safety, and other corporate functions
  • Other duties as assigned by Director, Procurement


Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain operations, preferably within plastics or recycling industries.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to process purchase orders accurately.
  • Experience managing supplier/vendor communications and resolving order-related issues.
  • Familiarity with procurement systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple transactions simultaneously.


Education/Training

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent education and work experience.


Position Mechanics

Reports to: Director, Procurement

Type: Exempt; Full-time

Work Hours: Flexible, but must be available, 8:00-5:00, Monday to Friday with occasional evening and weekend work.

Location: Houston, TX

Work environment: Primarily an office environment, but may also work in an industrial environment at times where the use of PPE is required.

Travel: Minimal - Less than 10% as needed to meet with members and attend off-site meetings


Physical Demand is substantially that of an office environment. Occasional lifting and manual work.


Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status.
