PLANNER / BUYER, MRO
Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Planner / Buyer to support both direct materials and MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) procurement. This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials are available to meet production and operational demands while balancing cost, quality, and inventory levels.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced assembly and manufacturing environment, demonstrates strong analytical skills, and builds effective partnerships with suppliers and internal teams.

Location: New Hudson, MI (on-site)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm
Status: Regular, Full-Time

Key Responsibilities
- Material Planning & Execution
- Execute material planning based on MRP outputs, demand forecasts, and production schedules
- Align supply plans to meet customer and operational requirements
- Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Create, manage, and track purchase orders through completion
- Communicate regularly with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and resolve issues
- Monitor supplier performance and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement
- Inventory Optimization
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels to minimize shortages, excess, and obsolescence
- Analyze inventory trends and recommend adjustments to planning parameters
- Production Support
- Expedite critical materials to avoid production disruptions
- Quickly resolve supply shortages and material constraints
- MRO Purchasing
- Manage procurement of maintenance parts, shop supplies, and consumables
- Establish and maintain min/max inventory levels for MRO items
- Systems & Data Integrity
- Maintain accurate ERP system data, including lead times, pricing, and supplier records
- Ensure data accuracy to support effective planning and purchasing decisions
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in planning, buying, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with MRP/ERP systems
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred
- Experience supporting both direct materials and MRO procurement
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles
- APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) or willingness to obtain
- Forklift Certified or willingness to obtain
Demonstrated Physical Abilities/Work Environment
- Remain stationary for 50%+ of the time; move/traverse throughout the manufacturing and production floor to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30-50 pounds (e.g. when working with inventory)
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel crouch, crawl and talk or hear.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
