As we continue to grow, we're seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer Planner to join our operations team in Red Wing, MN.

Position Summary

The Buyer Planner is responsible for purchasing production materials, managing inventory levels, and coordinating planning activities to ensure on-time delivery of products. This role works closely with production, engineering, and supplier partners to balance cost, quality, and delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities

PurchasingSupplier Management

  • Source, evaluate, and procure raw materials, components, and services.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors; negotiate pricing, lead times, and supply agreements.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery or quality issues.
  • Process purchase orders and maintain accurate purchasing records.

PlanningProduction Support

  • Develop and manage material planning schedules to support production demand.
  • Review ERP/MRP signals and adjust plans based on changes in forecasts, sales orders, or production capacity.
  • Coordinate with production and engineering teams to ensure material availability for builds.
  • Monitor work order progress and adjust priorities as needed.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
  • Conduct regular inventory analysis and support cycle count activities.
  • Identify and implement improvements in material flow, stocking strategies, and lead-time reductions.

DataProcess Management

  • Maintain accurate item master data, lead times, and planning parameters.
  • Create and distribute purchasing and inventory reports.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to sourcing, planning, and supply chain processes.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, or supply chain roles (manufacturing environment preferred).
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Preferred:

  • Experience with wire harness or electro-mechanical assembly manufacturing.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) a plus.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement background.
