We are seeking a Buyer / Supply Chain Specialist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be an analytical, detail-oriented professional with experience in procurement, materials planning, and vendor management within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Position Summary
The Buyer / Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the flow of materials, components, and services necessary for firearm production. This role ensures supply chain efficiency, cost effectiveness, and compliance with all federal, state, and ITAR regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Purchasing:
- Source and procure raw materials, machined components, and outsourced services according to production requirements and quality standards.
- Issue purchase orders, manage order confirmations, and maintain accurate ERP/MRP records.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers to ensure competitive cost structures.
- Develop and maintain supplier scorecards for performance evaluation.
Supply Chain & Inventory Management:
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to support production schedules while minimizing carrying costs.
- Collaborate with production and engineering to forecast material needs and manage supply risks.
- Track and expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery and avoid production downtime.
- Work with logistics partners to manage inbound/outbound shipments and freight optimization.
Compliance & Quality:
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with ITAR, EAR, and ATF regulations.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance to resolve supplier nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain traceability and documentation for all regulated components and materials.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify cost reduction and efficiency improvement opportunities across the supply chain.
- Support implementation of lean manufacturing and ERP/MRP best practices.
- Participate in cross-functional teams for new product introduction and process improvement.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
- 3–7 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or materials management—preferably in firearms, defense, or precision manufacturing.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Epicor, JobBOSS, SAP).
- Working knowledge of ITAR, DFARS, and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Experience with machine shop or CNC component sourcing a strong plus.
Skills:
- Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and supply chain analysis tools.
- Strong sense of ethics, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.

Job Type: Full-time
Base Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
