Our family‑owned scrap recycling company is seeking a Buyer Trainee to join our team. This is a hands‑on, paid training position designed for someone interested in a long‑term career in sales, and commodities.
The Buyer Trainee will spend approximately one year rotating through all areas of our operations, gaining a full understanding of how scrap material moves through our business—from scale and processing to logistics, pricing, and customer relationships. This training ensures you are fully prepared to succeed as a Buyer, responsible for purchasing scrap material and building strong supplier partnerships.

During your training year, you will gain exposure to:
- Yard and scale operations (material identification, grading, and pricing)
- Processing and shipping of scrap materials
- Transportation and logistics

- Supplier and customer relationship management
This comprehensive approach helps you understand the entire lifecycle of the material you will ultimately be responsible for buying.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods standing.
- Ability to maintain single task focus and situational awareness.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and moving the entire body. This will include balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to the elements of the environment: hot and cold, smells and noises unique to the plant.
This person will also need a valid driver's license and good driving record.
