Buyer/Material Planner

The Buyer 1 coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies for CES. This position is responsible for communicating with vendors on providing quality material at competitive prices, delivered per our schedule and ensuring on time delivery to our customers.

Key Accountabilities:

Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

  • Expedites company issued purchase orders to ensure delivery dates comply with schedule requirements.

· Determines method of procurements such as direct purchase or bid.

· Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.

· Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

· Must be familiar with the purchasing of steel, metals, paint, and consumables.

· Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality or performance and inventories.

· Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.

· Approves invoices for payment.

· Expedites delivery of goods to users

· Performs other related duties as assigned

Competencies:

· Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, Ability to write reports, business correspondence, ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.

· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

· Desired to be experienced in Lean Manufacturing PFEP, Kanban etc. is also desired.

· Comply with company rules, policies and safety/environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or XX months/years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Position Requirements:

Travel may be required within Crane Equipment & Service’s domestic footprint.

Travel Percentage <10%

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and use hands to touch, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
