The Buyer/Planner supports manufacturing and supply chain operations by planning and procuring raw materials to meet production and customer demand while maintaining optimal inventory levels. This role works closely with suppliers, production, engineering, and customer-facing teams to ensure cost-effective sourcing, on-time delivery, and continuous improvement in supply chain performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and maintain optimal inventory levels based on forecasts, customer demand, and usage trends
  • Create, manage, and track purchase orders, subcontracting work orders, and production orders
  • Monitor backorders and communicate status updates to Sales, Engineering, and Customer Service
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships; identify performance issues and implement corrective actions
  • Obtain and analyze vendor pricing; collaborate with Engineering on alternate sourcing when needed
  • Investigate and resolve production, inventory, and supplier discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and production records, including order changes and shipping documentation
  • Track and report key purchasing, inventory, and production metrics
  • Participate in cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Communicate purchasing issues and resolutions to senior management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in buying, planning, or materials management
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with MRP systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications, procedures, and technical documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • ERP experience; Syspro preferred
  • Medical device manufacturing experience, including clean room packaging
  • Experience with molding operations
  • Knowledge of cGMP and ISO 13485 standards
  • Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience
  • Experience tracking production, inventory, and quality metrics

**This position is 100% in office, which is located in Eagan, near the MN Vikings Training Facility (494/Dodd).

Pay: $60,640.33 - $73,029.21 per year
