Who We’re Looking For
We want a proactive professional who doesn’t wait for instructions but dives in, anticipates needs, and gets things done. You’re analytical and already leveraging tools (like inventory software and data analytics) to work smarter and faster. Able to work in a busy warehouse operation, someone who earns trust through action and builds strong relationships with vendors and internal teams. If you can juggle stock levels, forecast demand, and negotiate terms while keeping costs in check, you’re the kind of efficiency expert we need to support our field operations. This role is based in Longview, WA.
What You’ll Do
As our Buyer/Planner, you’ll handle purchasing and inventory planning for tools, PPE, and consumables, ensuring timely availability while balancing costs and stock levels. This isn’t just transactional—it’s about strategic management, execution, and collaboration.
Pay Range: $25 - $30 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).
Here’s a deeper dive into what you’ll take on:
Procurement & Sourcing
  • Source and purchase tools, PPE, and consumable supplies in line with company standards, budget, and lead time requirements.
  • Evaluate and select vendors based on price, quality, delivery time, and reliability.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Issue purchase orders and track their status to ensure timely delivery.
Inventory Planning & Management
  • Monitor stock levels and usage trends using inventory management software.
  • Develop and maintain reorder points and minimum stock levels for critical items.
  • Forecast demand based on construction project timelines, seasonal trends, and historical usage data.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
Vendor Management & Performance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors.
  • Track supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness) and hold them accountable to agreed standards.
  • Resolve vendor-related issues such as backorders, pricing errors, or returns.
Collaboration & Reporting
  • Work closely with the warehouse, tool repair, customer service, and construction teams to understand site needs and delivery timelines.
  • Support project managers with sourcing or substitution of unavailable items.
  • Collaborate with the receiving team to ensure proper intake and documentation of goods.
  • Maintain accurate procurement and inventory records.
  • Prepare reports on purchasing activity, inventory turnover, and cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations related to procurement and PPE standards.
What You Bring
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years in procurement, inventory planning, or supply chain management. Preferred: Experience in a construction or industrial supply environment, with familiarity in tools, PPE, and consumables used in construction settings.
  • Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field experience.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation and vendor management skills; excellent organizational and time-management abilities; proficiency in inventory and purchasing software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Excel, or similar); ability to analyze data and adjust procurement strategies; strong attention to detail; excellent verbal skills for interacting with internal and external customers; the ability to work at a steady pace, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work overtime as needed. Proficiency in MS Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Mindset: Analytical yet practical, with a knack for problem-solving, data-driven decisions, and driving efficiency.
Physical Requirements
This office position requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Candidates must have the ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and using a mouse. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching are necessary. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs occasionally (e.g., handling product samples, small tool shipments). Visual acuity to read printed and digital documents, spreadsheets, and product labels. Comfortable working in both climate-controlled office environments and occasionally visiting the warehouse or outdoor job sites, which may involve exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, is essential.
