Our Buyer/Purchaser reports to the Director of Clinical Support Services and supports Edgerton Hospital by:

Procuring medical supplies, equipment, services, and other goods required for the effective operation of the hospital

Ensures timely, cost-effective, and compliant purchases while maintaining quality standards

Collaborates with clinical and administrative departments to support patient care and operational needs

Handles product returns

Maintains catalog files, product conversions, & in-servicing

Assists with physical inventory counts
Essential Role Functions:
-
Research, source, and evaluate suppliers to ensure high-quality products and services at competitive prices. Will bring research to the director for approval.

Process purchase orders in accordance with hospital policies and budgetary guidelines.

Maintain and update records of purchases, pricing, and delivery information in the procurement system Multiview.

Track orders and ensure timely delivery; resolve issues related to delayed or incorrect shipments.

Collaborate with department heads to forecast supply needs and avoid inventory shortages.

Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and group purchasing organization.

Monitor supplier performance and address non-compliance or service issues.

Work with the finance department to reconcile invoices and resolve discrepancies.

Stay informed about market trends, supply chain disruptions, and new product offers.

Proactively collaborates with supply chain colleagues throughout region, vendors, group purchasing organization, etc. to effectively provide service.

Represent the materials department in meetings internally and externally.

Create and maintain a dashboard to demonstrate the health of the materials department.
Education
-
Associates or degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Health Care or a related field preferred, or five years related work experience.

High school diploma is required.
Experience
-
2–3 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in a health care or hospital environment preferred.

Familiarity with medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and health care equipment is highly desirable
