Headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale, the yachting capital of the world, with an additional store in Antibes, France, Liquid Yacht Wear is a key supplier in one of the most exciting industries in the world. We are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Buyer / Purchasing Manager

About This Role
Bring your sense of style and fun to an incredible industry! This role combines strategic purchasing and buyer responsibilities to support our fashion production and inventory needs. As Purchasing Manager, you will lead the end-to-end procurement and buying process for our collections. You will act as both a strategic buyer and purchasing lead, sourcing materials and finished goods, managing inventory, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring seamless collaboration with our design team to bring creative concepts to market efficiently and cost-effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Buyer Responsibilities
You will manage inventory with proper control measures, track historic and future sales trends to maintain optimal stock levels of top-selling items, and oversee hundreds of products. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory numbers across the store, stock room, and warehouse. You will supervise the stock associate and coordinate closely with the sales team and warehouse team to ensure the right inventory is always on hand. This position reports directly to the CEO and works closely with the sales team and finance team.

Inventory and Production Oversight

  • Helping sales staff in the US and France stay up to date on inventory and purchasing
  • Properly receiving incoming inventory
  • Creating purchase orders through the QuickBooks system
  • Forecasting inventory needs, monitoring stock levels, and managing replenishment to minimize stockouts and excess inventory
  • Tracking production timelines and ensuring timely delivery of materials and finished goods

Collaboration with Design Team

  • Work closely with our design team to source and recommend materials, trims, and components that meet the creative vision, technical performance requirements (e.g., water-resistant, UV-protective fabrics), and production feasibility
  • Participate in product development, providing input on supplier capabilities, cost implications, and material availability
  • Align purchasing decisions with design direction to support timely sample development and full production runs

Supplier & Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, evaluate new vendors, and conduct ongoing performance reviews
  • Source innovative products and materials suited for the yachting industry with quality and sustainability standards

Additional Duties:

  • Analyze sales trends, market data, and historical buying patterns to inform future purchasing decisions
  • Collaborate with sales and finance teams on forecasting, sales trends, new styles and offerings, budgeting, cost control, and reporting
  • Track key metrics including cost savings, inventory turnover, on-time delivery, and supplier performance

Requirements

  • Minimum 4–5+ years of combined experience in purchasing and buying within the fashion or apparel industry
  • Strong fashion production background, including managing collections and production timelines
  • Proven track record handling both strategic purchasing and buyer-level responsibilities (sourcing, selection, and negotiation)
  • Experience working effectively with external or freelance design teams on material sourcing and product development
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-first, entrepreneurial environment
  • Full-time availability required
  • Immediate start date preferred

Highly Desired

  • Knowledge of the yachting, marine, or luxury lifestyle industry
  • Experience sourcing performance/technical fabrics and materials for outdoor or marine use
  • Familiarity with international sourcing and global supply chains
  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop
