Buying Manager

Hamleys is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Buying Manager with experience in Toy Retail to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the purchasing process, analyzing market trends, and selecting the best products to ensure our customers receive an exceptional range of toys and gifts.

You will work closely with suppliers, negotiate prices, and collaborate with the merchandising team to meet sales targets.

Responsibilities:

• Negotiating with vendors and building positive, long-term relationships.
• Contract Negotiation – renewals to see improving terms annually (margin, payment terms, rebates
• New line selection and allocation sign off (weekly)
• Quarterly assortment sign off by store and region
• Monthly Market Analysis
• Analyze current buying performance and implement improvement to current system
• Communicate with Operations and Marketing team to effectively carry out working strategies

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of the market conditions and trends
• Working knowledge of negotiation techniques in the industry
• Exceptional interpersonal and social skills to build good rapports
• Positive and professional demeanor
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Great team player
• Flexible to travel as necessary
