We believe each preschooler is a unique creation of God. Each child progresses through the stages of mental, physical, moral/spiritual, social and emotional development in Jesus’ same sequence. The responsibility of a BYCS Teacher will be to help each child progress through these stages academically and biblically. The goal is to see growth in these stages as the child develops and matures. All BYCS Teachers will be responsible to the BYCS Director and Assistant Director for guidance and supervision.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following:
- Abide by all BYCS Staff Policies and Procedures.
- Partner with parents to help each child become all that God created them to be.
- Communicate care through love and individual attention.
- Provide an environment designed to meet age-appropriate needs of each child.
- Teach a curriculum (academic age appropriate and biblically based) of planned activities in learning centers, and group experiences designed to facilitate the child’s total development.
- Use the weekly Bible stories provided.
- Be on time and follow guidelines for room set up.
- Attend all BYCS staff meetings and trainings including CPR and 1st Aid.
- Turn in lesson plans, newsletters, supply request, receipts and absence request on time.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children and their families.
- Seek out and use supervision appropriately.
- Meet continuing education requirements.
- Leave classroom in order.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain a positive attitude toward work.
- Support the efforts of the church and church staff.
- Work cooperatively and considerately with other staff.
- Be flexible.
- Avoid gossip.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A mature Christian who is growing in their personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible Study, prayer and service.
- An understanding of weekday and preschool ministry as a foundational ministry of the church.
- Have an understanding and knowledge of the developmental stages and the learning approaches for children that you teach (eight months – five years old).
- In agreement with and the ability to enforce the BYCS Policies and Procedures and Parent Handbook.
EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
- Experience with children (substitute, teacher’s assistant and/or church experience as a classroom teacher).
