C# Cloud & IoT Development Engineer

We are seeking a C# Developer to focus on connecting commercial embedded hardware devices to our AWS cloud environment. You will be responsible for creating robust, secure IoT services that process telemetry, manage devices, and ensure high availability of data across our energy management and smart building platforms. The ideal candidate has strong experience in IoT data ingestion, backend C# development, and AWS cloud services.

This position is with WiSuite USA and is located at the Warren, Michigan headquarters. WiSuite is a leading manufacturer of wireless HVAC sensors and controls for commercial applications. Developers will work on site with other team members. Periodic remote work opportunities may be available depending upon project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Embedded-to-Cloud Connectivity: Develop C# services to ingest, process, and store telemetry from hardware devices using MQTT (MQTTnet), gRPC, and HTTP.

· Device Management: Implement secure device provisioning, over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates, and configuration management within AWS.

· Plugin Development: Design and extend a modular plugin architecture for controller services, including demand response, device data processing, and system health monitoring.

· Data Pipeline & Storage: Build and maintain data pipelines using MySQL (Entity Framework Core), AWS Timestream for time-series metrics, DynamoDB, and S3.

· Background Services & Scheduling: Develop long-running .NET worker services and scheduled jobs (Quartz) for device polling, data aggregation, and system maintenance tasks.

· System Architecture: Build scalable, fault-tolerant architectures for multi-property energy telemetry, consumption tracking, and demand response management.

· Security & Compliance: Ensure end-to-end security from device to cloud using JWT/OAuth 2.0 authentication, assembly signing for plugin verification, and adherence to industry standards.

· Collaboration: Work with embedded firmware teams, field support, and property management integrators to optimize data flow and connectivity stability.

Requirements And Skills

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

· 3+ years of experience in backend C# / .NET development (.NET 6/8), with at least 1–2 years focusing on IoT or device-connected cloud environments.

· Solid experience with AWS services: S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda, and DynamoDB.

· Strong proficiency with relational databases — MySQL or Postgres preferred — and Entity Framework Core (code-first or database-first).

· Hands-on experience with MQTT or similar IoT messaging protocols.

· Strong understanding of microservices architecture, dependency injection, asynchronous programming, and data serialization (JSON, Protobuf).

· Experience building .NET background/worker services.

· Familiarity with gRPC for inter-service communication.

· Experience with unit testing frameworks (xUnit, Moq) and code coverage tooling.

· Familiarity with version control (Git) and software configuration management practices.

· Strong documentation, writing, and communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge And Experience

· Experience with ABP Framework, Blazor, Maui

· Experience with AWS Timestream or other time-series databases for telemetry/metrics storage.

· Familiarity with Quartz.NET or similar job scheduling frameworks.

· Experience with Blazor Server or other .NET web UI frameworks.

· Knowledge of the ABP Framework for modular application development.

· Experience with Serilog structured logging and observability practices.

· Familiarity with energy management, demand response, or smart building/HVAC domains.

· Experience with C/C++ (for interpreting embedded data payloads).

· Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (AWS CloudFormation or Terraform).

· AWS Certified Developer or Solutions Architect certification.
