Johnstech’s Design & Drafting Team supports engineers through the creation of engineering designs, tooling and fixturing for our patented products. You will work with our engineers to develop mechanical design conceptualization, layout, simulation and verification of our products. This includes conducting design reviews, layout comparisons and other analyses under the guidance of engineering personnel to optimize solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Layout/Conceptualize/Design high difficulty contactor designs, accessories and other mechanical devices using CAD on either existing or new products.
  • Integrate concepts with manufacturing requirements to produce functional parts.
  • Understand and implement geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Assist engineering and research personnel in prototype development and test.
  • Recommend product improvements and enhancements for improving methods/workflow through the department.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, management and other functional departments and provide input and assistance.
  • Adhere to company design and drafting standards.
  • Other duties as needed.

Job Qualifications:

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED and Technical Drafting Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience.
  • Solidworks experirence
  • Able to coordinate the development and layout of precision mechanical design solutions with a high degree of accuracy and functionality.
  • General manufacturing knowledge a plus.
  • Committed to improving and developing high quality, reliable design solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and able to effectively communicate to both technical and non-technical individuals such as peers, suppliers and customers.
  • Flexible/Adaptable to adjust to changing department and customer needs.
  • Able to mentor less experienced drafters/designers, sharing with them what you know through positive and constructive feedback.
  • Able to set and meet departmental and company objectives and goals on schedule.
  • Able to create timely, innovative, cost-effective design solutions and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Internally motivated (i.e., self-starter) and able to work independently.

Highly preferred: Experience designing very tight tolerance parts – Johnstech tolerances range from .006mm to 0.1mm with a typical tolerance being .013 mm.

Pay range is $26-$34 per hour. This salary information serves as a general guideline. Several factors are considered when making an offer for this position including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, key skills, market and business conditions.
