Polypack, a worldwide leader in end-of-line packaging machinery solutions, is currently accepting applications for the position of CAD Designer at our Pinellas Park, FL global headquarters.

Polypack designs, manufactures, services, and supports a diverse line of wrapping and packing equipment that utilize standard platforms with modular construction, adapted to specific end-user requirements via customized tooling and change parts.

Job Summary

We are hiring an experienced CAD Designer to support our engineering and manufacturing teams. This role is responsible for creating detailed 2D and 3D designs for custom packaging machinery, updating engineering drawings, and maintaining accurate technical documentation. If you enjoy mechanical design, solving problems, and working hands-on with production teams, this is an excellent long-term opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Create 2D drawings and 3D models for components, assemblies, and packaging machinery systems
  • Use CAD software (SolidWorks and occasionally DraftSight) to prepare accurate and detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Develop parts lists, BOMs, and engineering documentation
  • Support engineers with updates, design changes, and prototype development
  • Collaborate with fabrication, machining, and assembly teams to resolve design questions
  • Ensure drawings follow company standards, dimensioning practices, and revision control
  • Assist with engineering change orders and documentation updates
  • Maintain organized digital files, drawing revisions, and project folders
  • Review designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and accuracy

Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years of CAD design experience in a manufacturing, mechanical, or machinery environment
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, DraftSight, or similar CAD systems
  • Ability to create complete, accurate engineering drawings and 3D models
  • Understanding of mechanical components, tolerances, sheet metal, weldments, and machining
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineering and production teams

Preferred

  • Experience with packaging equipment, automation, conveyors, or industrial machinery
  • Familiarity with PDM systems or engineering document control
  • Knowledge of machining, welding, and fabrication practices
  • Experience working in a family-owned or small/mid-sized manufacturing environment
