Calaway Designs is a premier custom fabrication shop specializing in high-end residential and commercial metalwork. From architectural features and custom doors to intricate staircases and railings, we bring luxury designs to life. We are looking for an experienced CAD Designer to join our growing team and take ownership of the design-to-production process.

The Role

As our lead CAD Designer, you will bridge the gap between vision and fabrication. You’ll interpret blueprints, take site measurements, and create precise technical drawings that our shop team uses to build flawless custom pieces.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Drafting: Create detailed CAD drawings for custom metal projects, ensuring they are "shop-ready" for our fabrication team.
• Site Management: Perform on-site measurements and interpret architectural blueprints to ensure a perfect fit for every installation.
• Vendor Coordination: Send drawings for laser cutting and bending quotes; manage timelines and approvals with outside vendors.
• Quality Control: Proactively identify potential design flaws or fabrication hurdles before they hit the shop floor.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the company owner, fabricators, and woodworkers to ensure seamless project execution.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 3+ years in CAD design (AutoDesk/AutoCAD preferred) within the construction or fabrication industry.
• Technical Skill: Proven ability to read blueprints and translate field measurements into accurate digital designs.
• Detail-Oriented: A "measure twice, cut once" mentality. You take pride in catching errors early to save time and materials.
• Self-Starter: Ability to manage projects independently, meet deadlines, and ask the right questions to keep production moving.
• Reliability: A strong work ethic and dependable transportation for shop work and site visits (Utah/Summit County).
