CAD Designer, Physical Security Systems

We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Designer to support the design and documentation of physical security systems, including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and mass communication systems. This role is responsible for developing system layouts and coordinated design packages that support construction and implementation across commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.

The ideal candidate brings strong AutoCAD (and/or Revit) skills combined with hands-on knowledge of low-voltage or security system design standards.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Security Designer you will work on a broad range of design projects including projects you own. There is ample opportunity for development within our company, and travel is available, if desired. More specifically you will:

  • Develop detailed CAD drawings for physical security systems including:
    • CCTV camera layouts and device schedules
    • Access control door hardware and wiring diagrams
    • Intrusion detection system layouts
    • Mass notification and public address systems
  • Produce floor plans, riser diagrams, single-line diagrams, and equipment detail
  • Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable codes
  • Support project managers and engineers with revisions, redlines, and construction documentation
  • Participate in project coordination meetings as needed

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 2+ years of CAD drafting experience (preferably in low-voltage or security systems)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience preferred)
  • Understanding of physical security systems (CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, or mass notification)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience designing low-voltage systems, preferred
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in drafting, engineering technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working in a consulting engineering environment, preferred
