Job Title: CAD Detailer/Drafter

The Systems Group is looking for an energetic individual to be our next CAD Detailer/Drafter for our Spray Cooled division. We are looking for someone to help with the day-to-day issues that pop up but to also be part of the big picture and contribute to the long-term strategy of our operations across the country. PURPOSE: Create detailed fabrication drawings from 3D Autodesk Inventor models used in the manufacture of various Spray-Cooled equipment including bill of materials. Additionally, will create piping flow schematics that are utilized in the construction of piping systems. These detailed technical drawings incorporate the input of equipment designers, engineers, sales and project managers and can specify dimensions, codes, materials, and production methods.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

• Develop detailed fabrication drawings from 3D Inventor models and sketches and data provided by Equipment Designers and Engineers
• 2D fabrication drawings will be created from the 3D Inventor model in .ipt format then converted to AutoCAD and/or .pdf format for release to customers/fabrication shop
• Must be able to visualize, conceptualize and formulate drawings from a design in 3D from similar existing designs and drawing packages
• Ability to learn quickly and work on multiple projects
• Exercise independent judgment by utilizing the correct design criteria based on knowledge from customer data and project scope
• Create and assemble documentation packages and produce drawing sets and detailed bill of materials
• Be knowledgeable on steel plate and piping fabrication and welding techniques
• Be knowledgeable on correct welding procedures and material specifications
• Review customer drawings and other discipline drawings and any existing plan drawings for physical interferences and design requirements
• Effectively communicate with the equipment designer, project engineer, project manager and fabrication shop to provide technical support, identify and incorporate project design requirements
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings including dimensions, spelling, drafting standards and completeness suitable for fabrication

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Proficient in AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD required
• Education: Associate or Bachelor degree in Engineering/CAD Design preferred
• A minimum of 2 years CAD and 3D modeling experience
• Possess a strong mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge of metal plate fabrication and welding preferred
• Knowledge of integration of laser scan point cloud data into Inventor is a plus
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential
• This is an entry level salaried position in the Engineering department
