Café & Counter Associate – Barista & Food Prep

Earl’s Provisions Shop is looking for a Café & Counter Associate to join our team.
Located next door to Earl’s Premier in Brookside, the shop offers espresso, grab-and-go bites, and thoughtfully prepared provisions for the neighborhood. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with food, coffee, and guests in a fast-paced, hospitality-driven environment.

Position Summary

The Café & Counter Associate plays an important role in the daily operations of the Provisions Shop by supporting food preparation, packaging, and guest-facing counter service. This position helps ensure products are prepared, presented, and served with consistency and care while delivering a warm, welcoming experience for every guest.

This is a hands-on role suited for someone who enjoys working both behind the counter and in food preparation, with a strong focus on hospitality, product quality, and attention to detail.

Core Responsibilities:

Food Prep & Product Execution

• Assist with daily food prep, portioning, and packaging of provisions and grab-and-go offerings
• Ensure products are prepared, labeled, and displayed according to shop standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep, storage, and service areas
• Monitor product freshness, quality, and presentation throughout the day
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices

Counter Service & Guest Experience

• Provide friendly, knowledgeable service to guests at the counter
• Help guests with selections, questions, and product recommendations
• Prepare espresso drinks and other beverages as needed
• Operate POS and handle transactions accurately
• Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked service and display areas
• Support efficient service flow during busy periods

Daily Operations & Team Support

• Assist with opening and closing responsibilities as assigned
• Help maintain organization and cleanliness throughout the shop during and after service
• Communicate product needs or operational issues to management
• Support a positive, collaborative team environment
• Perform additional responsibilities and other duties as assigned to support team objectives and daily operations

Qualifications

• Previous experience in café, food service, market, or quick-service environments preferred
• Experience with counter service, barista work, or food preparation is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Friendly, guest-focused communication style
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable standing/walking for 8+ hours, and be able to bend, push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs.
