Acura of Pembroke Pines, a dealership in the Craig Zinn Automotive group, is looking for a Café Attendant to join our team. The Café Attendant delivers prompt, friendly service to customers, providing the best experience possible. This position prepares Café food & beverage items, completes transactions on the register, maintains cleanliness, and other related duties.

Job Summary

The Café Attendant delivers prompt, friendly service through direct customer interaction providing the best experience possible through serving Café food & beverage items.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares and serves specialized coffee drinks, such as café con leche, café latte or cappuccino, iced beverages such as coffee, tea, and fountain or bottled drinks.
  • Portions food in serving pans or on serving plates.
  • Responsible for replenishing food and other items.
  • Cleans and polishes utensils and equipment used in food and beverage preparation.
  • Dresses in proper uniform and always maintains company hygiene standards, including but not limited to, wearing a hat and gloves at all times while handling any food items.
  • Prepares salads, fruits, dressings, fish and meat items, and other dishes according to standards.
  • Ensures proper storage of products.
  • Visually inspects, selects and uses only the freshest fruits, vegetables, meats, fish and other food products of the highest standard in the preparation of all menu items.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper presentation, standard portion control, and maintenance of proper serving temperatures.
  • Reads and employs math skills for following recipes.
  • Keeps all refrigeration, storage and working areas in clean working condition in order to comply with applicable health regulations.
  • Maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils in work area.
  • Requests customer order and depresses keys of computer/Point of Sale system to simultaneously record order and compute bill.
  • Requests customer’s selection from menu board and/or selects requested food items from serving or storage areas and assembles items on plate or in takeout bag.
  • Follows Company cash handling procedures at all times by receiving payments, providing correct change, and depositing money received in cash register draw at each transaction.
  • May carve meats and fish.
  • May add gravies, sauces, and garnishes to panned and plated foods.
  • May wash, peel, cut and shred vegetables and fruits to prepare them or use.
  • May heat dough filled items including but not limited to, breads, rolls, pastries and pretzels.
  • Communicates issues to Café Supervisor.
  • May perform other duties as requested

Required Education & Experience:

  • Undergrad and/or 2-4 years of Café experience.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Restaurant type of equipment experience preferred.
  • Food & Safety Certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform work safely.
  • Ability to communicate effectively by phone, in person, and in writing.
  • Ability to organize work effectively, prioritize responsibilities, and exercise independent judgement.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to resolve complaints in a timely and professional manner.

Physical Demands:

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by dealership environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like walk-in freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.
  • Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the dealership on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the dealership on a timely basis.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with customers/guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to indoor conditions.

The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Other:

  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.
  • Due to the critical nature of the automotive industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the dealership. In addition, attendance at all schedule training sessions and meetings is required.
  • Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Company rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the facility.
