J.A.M. Coffee is a new specialty coffee shop opening in Miraleste Plaza, Rancho Palos Verdes. Built for locals and anyone who loves great coffee, we’re creating a welcoming and elevated space where people can gather, grab a drink to go, or slow down with friends. Building community is central to what we’re creating. We care about great coffee, but just as much about warm hospitality and creating a space where people feel at home. Many of our customers will be local neighbors, students and families, cyclists, and commuters who stop in as part of their daily routine.

We are looking for Cafe Clerks and employees experienced with Food/Bakery Prep to join our opening team. As a Cafe Clerk, you will be welcoming customers into the coffee shop, handling POS transactions, assisting the barista with prepping and making beverages, preparing food and bakery items, and helping to maintain a clean and comfortable environment for our guests. As a Food/Bakery Prepper, you will prepare, cook, and/or bake cafe items such as breakfast and bakery items, grab-and-go items, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. Whether you're assisting with food prep, operating POS systems, or maintaining sanitation standards, your efforts will directly enhance our guests’ experience and keep our café running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of bakery items and café offerings efficiently and accurately, following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Operate to process transactions quickly and accurately, including cash handling and credit card payments.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests warmly, taking orders, answering questions about menu items, and upselling products to enhance sales.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the food prep area, dining space, and retail sections to ensure a safe and inviting environment.
• Assist with food handling duties such as bussing tables, restocking supplies, and ensuring proper food storage practices.
• Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service without compromising quality or safety standards.
• Follow all food industry regulations related to sanitation, food safety, and proper kitchen procedures to uphold health standards.

RequirementS

• (Bakery/Food Prep) Experience in bakery or culinary roles and food service, is advantageous; kitchen or restaurant experience is highly valued.
• (Cafe Clerk) Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests warmly, taking orders, and addressing inquiries or concerns.
• (Cafe Clerk) Operate POS system to process transactions efficiently and accurately.
• (Cafe Clerk) Manage cash handling responsibilities with accuracy, including cashiering and basic retail math.
• Knowledge of food safety protocols, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting with excellent time management skills.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including food handling and preparation stations.
• Follow food safety protocols and food handling procedures to ensure a safe environment for customers and staff.
• ServeSafe or Food Handler’s Certification or ability to obtain shortly after hiring.
• Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and restocking supplies as needed.
• Assist in opening, closing, and general cleaning duties as needed to maintain a clean
• Comfortable standing for extended periods and working in a busy retail or food environment. For Bakery/Food Prep, must be able to regularly lift 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50lbs.

Pay: $18.50 - $20.50 per hour
