Job Type: Full-time/Part-time

Position Overview:

The Cafe Associate, the “Sweet Squad” is a key team member at the Dessert Gallery

Bakery & Cafe, responsible for ensuring exceptional service to all customers, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and providing quality desserts and beverages.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Customer Service: Greet all customers with a friendly, upbeat demeanor, take orders accurately, and provide information about menu items including specials, promotions, and ingredient details.

2. Food and Beverage Preparation: Prepare and serve hot or cold beverages such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas. Assemble and serve desserts from our wide selection. Ensure that all products meet our quality standards.

3. Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean and tidy work area, including the counter, seating area, equipment, and utensils. Carry out opening and closing duties as required, including restocking and reordering as necessary.

4. Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure the smooth operation of the cafe. Be willing to help in any area of the cafe when circumstances dictate.

5. Cash Handling: Process customer payments efficiently and accurately. Handle cash transactions with customers using cash registers. Give customers their change and issue receipts.

Required Skills and Experience:

1. Experience in food service or retail is preferred but not necessary.

2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

3. Ability to maintain a positive, professional demeanor under stress.

4. Excellent customer service skills and a passion for service.

5. Basic knowledge of food safety and handling procedures is a plus.

6. Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.

Training:

The cafe will provide training to the right candidate to ensure familiarity with the brand, food and beverage items, and the high level of customer service expected at the Dessert Gallery Bakery & Cafe.
