Job Overview:

The person selected for this position will fill a critical role in our agency, in the communities we serve, and most importantly, in the lives of child abuse survivors and their protective caregivers. Partners in the Roxanne’s House Program include all law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, Child Protective Services, and Court Appointed Special Advocates serving Hays and Caldwell counties. The successful candidate will need to work very closely with personnel from these agencies and foster a supportive team approach to addressing the problem of child abuse. Primary responsibilities will include providing age-appropriate counseling to child victims of abuse at both the Lockhart and San Marcos offices, facilitating group services for victims and their non-offending family members, and working with Roxanne’s House staff and MDT to coordinate services for child victims of abuse.

Responsibilities:

The person selected for this position will provide services at HCWC's Lockhart office 4 days a week and provide services at HCWC's San Marcos office 1 day a week.

  • Provide an assessment of each child’s individual, social and therapeutic needs.
  • Provide individual counseling for Roxanne's House clients who are child victims of interpersonal violence.
  • Facilitate and/or coordinate group sessions for victims and/or non-offending family members of child abuse.
  • Provide services two evenings per week as needed to meet client’s needs.
  • Consult with parents/legal guardians of child clients as appropriate.
  • Make appropriate referrals to CPS when required.
  • Coordinate and/or provide legal advocacy and court accompaniment services to child survivors of sexual assault and physical abuse who are Roxanne’s House clients. Provide court school for clients.

Skills:

The successful candidate for this position:

  • Will have a master’s degree and licensure in Professional Counseling or Social Work (LPC, LPC-Associate, LMFT, LMSW, LCSW) or be in the process of obtaining a master’s degree and licensure within 6 months of hire. Counseling licensure is required for this position.
  • Will have at least one year of experience providing crisis intervention and/or counseling to victims of abuse.
  • Will have knowledge and understanding of the victimization and healing issues related to child abuse and be child-focused and passionate about working with children.
  • Will be self-motivated, results oriented and maintain high moral and ethical standards.
  • Will be able to demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse staff members, MDT members, and others.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $47,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
