About the Role
This entry-level Appearance Attorney position within our Workers’ Compensation department is ideal for attorneys beginning their legal career and seeking a structured path toward becoming a Case-Handling Attorney. You will appear on behalf of clients at hearings, depositions, and conferences while supporting senior attorneys and developing foundational litigation skills in Workers’ Compensation law.
Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients as an Appearance Attorney in depositions, conferences, and hearings—both virtually and in person.
  • Collaborate with case-handling attorneys to develop strategies for depositions, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Review and analyze medical records, employment documents, and other case materials.
  • Assist with discovery to gather and organize critical evidence.
  • Evaluate medical reports using the AMA Guides to Permanent Disability (5th Edition).
  • Support permanent disability rating assessments and draft comprehensive settlement demands.
  • Assist with settlement negotiations and provide informed guidance to clients under attorney supervision.
  • Draft legal documents including pre-trial conference statements, 5710 fee demands, and client correspondence.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to a State Bar or awaiting Bar exam results.
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with consistent follow-through and deadline management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motivated to learn, grow, and progress into a case-handling role.
Compensation
  • Base Salary: $100,000 – $125,000 (DOE).
  • Opportunity for promotion to Case-Handling Attorney with an independent caseload and additional bonus compensation.
