Houston SPCA | Full Time

$16.00/Hrly

Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where every call matters? Are you motivated by helping people and protecting animals in our community? If you’re a solutions-focused communicator who brings calm, compassion, and professionalism to every interaction, Houston SPCA wants you on our team.

As a Call Center Team Member, you are often the first voice someone hears when they need help—whether they’ve lost a pet, found an animal in distress, or are considering adoption. Your ability to listen, problem-solve, and provide accurate information directly supports our mission to protect animals and serve the community.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will deliver exceptional customer service while gathering critical information and helping callers navigate stressful or emotional situations. Every day you will:

  • Welcome and guide visitors entering the Administration Building with clarity and care.
  • Help potential adopters understand Houston SPCA’s adoption process, benefits, and policies.
  • Support pet owners by helping them navigate the “Found Animals” webpage and entering lost pet reports.
  • Gather and enter detailed information for cruelty reports and quickly relay urgent cases to investigators.
  • Dispatch rescue ambulance calls with accuracy and urgency for animals in medical distress.
  • Provide step-by-step support for emergency drop-off protocols for injured domestic animals and wildlife.
  • Share information about Houston SPCA programs—Volunteer & Foster, PetSafe, Critter Camp, Wellness Clinic, and more.
  • Direct callers to the appropriate departments while maintaining a calm, professional tone.
  • Maintain confidentiality for all customers, donors, animals, and internal communications.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1+ year of work experience.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Strong computer and data-entry skills.
  • Patience, courtesy, and professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to safely handle animals with gentleness when needed.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new procedures or program changes.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work occasional unscheduled hours.

Houston SPCA is committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
