Why We're Hiring in Cambridge Specifically

We have consistent demand from families in Cambridge — Central Square, Cambridgeport, Inman Square, and the MIT/Harvard corridors — and not enough local caregivers to meet it. If you live in or near Cambridge, shifts come to you. Many of our placements are walkable, bikeable, or a short Red Line ride away. A car is not required.

What You'd Be Doing

Our Cambridge caregivers primarily provide:

• Backup childcare — last-minute coverage when a family's regular care falls through
• Emergency coverage — school closures, sick days, schedule gaps
• Event childcare — weddings, corporate functions, conferences

Shift volume varies. This is flexible, on-call work — not a guaranteed hours position. That said, caregivers who are reliable and a good fit with families are often requested back, and some develop ongoing relationships over time.

What Makes This Different

True flexibility — Accept or decline every shift. No minimum hours. No penalty for declining. You set your availability and we work around it.

No car required — Most Cambridge placements are T-accessible. If you live locally and use public transit, that's an asset, not a limitation.

W-2 employment — Taxes withheld automatically. Workers' comp and professional liability coverage included. No 1099 hassles.

RN-led with clinical oversight — We train our caregivers beyond the basics. If you've ever wanted to work with infants, children and felt underprepared, we'll support you.

Paid orientation and training — You get paid to learn our standards before your first shift.

Compensation

• 2–3 years experience: $21/hr
• 4–6 years experience: $23/hr
• 10+ years or specialized certifications: $24/hr
• Reliability bonus: +$2/hr at 80%+ acceptance rate
• Referral bonus: $50 per successful caregiver hire

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Based in Cambridge, Somerville, or immediately surrounding areas
• Minimum 2 years childcare experience (nanny, daycare, teaching, or extensive babysitting)
• Age 18+ (21+ preferred)
• Able to pass comprehensive background check (CORI, national criminal, sex offender registry)
• Available for at least some weekday morning or afternoon shifts
• Comfortable with same-day and short-notice requests
• Smartphone for scheduling and communication

Strongly Preferred:

• Current CPR & First Aid certification (or willing to obtain within 30 days)
• Infant experience
• Special needs or medically complex child experience
• Bilingual (Spanish a strong plus)
• Early Childhood Education coursework or related degree

Shifts Available

• Daytime: typically 7am–6pm
• Evening: typically 5pm–11pm
• Weekends: mornings, afternoons, evenings
• Occasional overnight for special events

How It Works

• You submit your availability in our system
• We send shift offers by text when something matches
• You accept or decline — no pressure either way
• For accepted shifts, you receive full family details in advance
• Complete the shift, submit your hours, get paid

How to Apply

Submit your application online. You'll be asked for a brief work history and two to three childcare references. Most candidates hear back within a few business days. The full process — application, interview, background check, and orientation — typically takes two to three weeks.
