SUMMARY
The Campus Security Manager manages day-to-day operations of the Campus Security department ensuring all shifts are staffed with capable security officers. The Campus Security Manager primarily works afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts and is also the main contact for all in-house electronic security functions. In conjunction with the Director of Campus, provides support for all PS&E security and safety functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and schedule in-house security personnel for the entire PS&E campus, ensuring high performance and morale of staff in the security department. Ensure timecards are accurate prior to payroll processing.
- Must be knowledgeable and cross-trained to work any security position if coverage is not sufficient.
- Assist staff on all shifts with crisis situations either on site or remote, escalate according to situational severity.
- Assist the Safety & Security team in all electronic security functions including setting up camera angles and groupings, access levels for employee badges and all in house investigations.
- Participate in development and updating of emergency plans and procedures. Maintain deep understanding of policies, plans, and procedures and ensure all security department actions follow these guidelines.
- Process employee badges in the database for all PS&E employees and contractors and ensure the database is updated when employees and contractors separate.
- Perform outdoor security checks of the Exterior Plazas while withstanding outdoor elements for extended periods of time.
- Oversee and maintain the guard schedule for the internal checkpoint feature within the department reporting system.
- Ensure all internal incident reports are accurate and contain the correct information provided by the security team for events and daily campus activities.
- Participate in the recruiting and hiring process for any in-house security positions.
- Develop, implement, and direct the training program for new hires as well as incumbent security officers.
- Responsible for upkeep of in-house supplies, equipment, and uniforms and notifying Director when inventory is needed.
- Work with IT Department Security Specialist to maintain continuous and optimal performance of the security and safety systems.
- When directed, communicate with off-duty law enforcement personnel to allow for a coordinated effort of security between PS&E personnel and off-duty law enforcement.
- Prepare a variety of written reports including incident reports, daily logs, special reports, etc., and ensure all reports are accurate and timely.
- Assist in the development and annual budget for PS&E Security Department.

QUALIFICATION

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years professional experience in security/law enforcement or related field.
- Leadership and management experience are highly desired.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are an absolute requirement.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructions and reports.
- Ability to write reports and correspondences.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from PS&E management and the public.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required.
- Ability to understand and operate internal administrative systems such as ADP payroll system.
- Ability to understand, operate, and administer security department technology systems.
- Ability to utilize and administer reports within our 247 incident management system.

- The noise level in Gainbridge Fieldhouse event environment is usually loud.

- The In-House Security Department is deemed “essential personnel” meaning that the department operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
