Campus Security Officer

King’s Ridge Christian School (KRCS), founded in 2001, is a multi-denominational Independent, Christian school committed to college preparatory academic excellence combined with a clear integration of the Christian faith. Our goal is to provide a nurturing learning environment where students develop academic excellence, while learning who they are in Christ, through interaction with curriculum, faculty and parents who are fully vested in equipping students to navigate life in an ever-changing world.

Full-time ten (10) month position. This position will supervise the school’s end of the day and afterschool hours.

The School Safety Officer’s (SSO) primary responsibility is supporting and facilitating a safe and secure environment throughout the campus while establishing meaningful relationships with students and staff. The SSO interacts with the school community to ensure the enforcement of city and state laws, preservation of public order, protection of life and the prevention, detection, and/or investigation of criminal activity.

The task, duties, and responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, and staff
• Build relationships with students
• Monitor and control access to the school premises
• Be the security, safety, and emergency point of contact for all after hours activities including but not limited to athletic practices, games, afterschool care, Fine Arts Academy classes
• Respond to emergency situations and take appropriate action as necessary
• Help to investigate incidents and report any violations of school safety policies to the appropriate authorities
• Help to develop and implement safety plans and policies
• Work closely with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies as necessary
• Helps staff with review on CCTV systems
• Assist with traffic and security for large events
• Patrolling campus for suspicious activity and/or unauthorized persons on campus
• Serve as initial first responder
• Enforce campus rules and regulations
• Assist law enforcement with incidents involving criminal activity that may impact the safety of the environment for the staff and students
• Conduct security assessment of school and campus
• Provide security for all home athletic games, school performances, and various events throughout the year

Education
High school diploma with college degree or military experience preferred

Must be comfortable around children adolescents and teens and interact well with children and adolescents and teens

Experience

Prior experience in law enforcement preferred

Abilities

• Working knowledge of federal state and local laws and safety and security procedures and policies
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an ever-changing environment
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
• Can meet Ga Post qualification with a firearm, not prohibited from carrying a firearm under the Lautenberg Amendment
• Ability to intercept and mediate arguments and fights.
• History of handling crisis incidents with calm and collective demeanor with little to no supervision.
• Able to deescalate situations verbally, be proactive and avert problems and situations before they occur
• Have not committed perjury and are still able to be a credible witness, no Brady/Giglio violations
• Demonstrates critical thinking skills
• Effective communication (verbal and written) skills
• Exercises independent judgment, tact and diplomacy
• Knowledge of Georgia Criminal and Traffic Code, City and County Ordinances, Criminal Procedures, and Juvenile Law
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs

Must be able to work inclement weather and able to run, walk, climb, crawl or sit for extended periods of time. In extreme cases may be exposed to violent and/ or armed confrontations.
