ABOUT JEREMIAH PROGRAM

Jeremiah Program (JP) is a national organization whose mission is to disrupt the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children, two generations at a time. By investing simultaneously in a mother’s vision for her personal and professional goals and the education of her children, she simultaneously reauthors her family’s outcome as well her community’s - proof points matter. In 2025, JP actively served over 2,000 moms and children across nine cities in Austin, TX; Baltimore, MD; Boston, MA; Brooklyn, NY; Fargo, ND-Moorhead, MN; Las Vegas, NV; Minneapolis, MN; Rochester, MN; and St. Paul, MN. SUMMARY

As a volunteer at Jeremiah Program’s Austin Campus, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission of disrupting the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children. Volunteers directly contribute to a welcoming and supportive environment by providing assistance in key operational areas. Your efforts will help ensure that events run smoothly, our children are safe and engaged, and visitors feel supported at our front desk.


Time Commitment: 10am - 3pm, 10 hours – 12 hours per week, Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu and occasional Saturdays (once per month)


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Austin Campus Support Volunteer, you will have the option to participate in one or more of the following focus areas:


1. Event Set-up and Clean-up

  • Assist in setting up rooms or event spaces for various campus events, including workshops, family programming, and community gatherings.
  • Help arrange tables, chairs, decorations, and materials to create a welcoming environment for participants.
  • Support in post-event clean-up by organizing materials, cleaning spaces, and ensuring the event space is restored to its original condition.

2. Front Desk Duties

  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, providing a warm and friendly greeting to families, partners, and community members.
  • Receive packages/deliveries, as well as picking up meal kits delivered by volunteers and bring them into the building
  • Provide basic administrative support, such as checking in official guests and managing sign-in sheets.
  • Assist with maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the reception area.

3. Administrative Support

  • Support Operations Manager with storage maintenance
  • Assist with occasional clerical support for JP Staff
  • Assist with assembling resident welcome baskets and birthday kits
  • Distribute E&L materials (journals and technology) to program participants
  • A passion for supporting single mothers and their children through education and community engagement.
  • Experience working with young children (preferred for childcare volunteers).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff and other volunteers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a welcoming demeanor.
  • Dependable and committed to fulfilling scheduled volunteer shifts.
  • Basic computer skills and able to fluently navigate Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
