Canine Enrichment Specialist - Chesterfield

About the Role:

Barks & Rec is looking for a reliable, animal-loving Canine Enrichment Specialist to join our team! This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being outdoors, staying active, and giving dogs the care, attention, and exercise they deserve. You’ll work with dogs of all sizes and personalities while keeping safety, professionalism, and positive experiences top priority. Must be available in the Chesterfield area Monday - Friday between 11am and 3pm.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle
• Must be experienced working with dogs of all breeds, sizes and temperments
• Ability and Willingness to work outside in all weather including rain, snow, heat, cold and wind.
• Must have a good driving record and ability to pass a background Check
• Must have a Smartphone with access to internet, data plan and high quality camera

Bonus (not required):

• Veterinary assistant/tech experience
• Kennel or shelter experience
• Dog training knowledge
• Grooming experience

What You’ll Do

• Provide safe, structured walks and enrichment for dogs on a scheduled route
• Handle dogs using proper leash and restraint techniques
• Monitor behavior and prevent unsafe situations (reactivity, pulling, distractions, etc.)
• Communicate clearly with pet parents about how walks went and any concerns
• Support basic training reinforcement (sit, wait, loose leash walking, etc.) when appropriate
• Assist with light pet care tasks as needed (feeding, medication, grooming support)
• Help with occasional cleaning or general animal care duties

What We’re Looking For

• Experience with dog walking, pet sitting, or animal care is strongly preferred
• Comfortable walking multiple dogs and working with different temperaments
• Reliable transportation is required
• Dependable, punctual, and able to follow detailed care instructions
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Able to lift and carry supplies as needed
• A calm, compassionate, and confident presence around animals
• Must be able to pass a federal and/or state background check

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
