Cannabis Retail Marketing Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Cannabis Retail Marketing Manager to join us on our journey to transform our bold ambitions for the Missouri medical cannabis market into a reality.

Our Cannabis Retail Marketing Manager will work out of our office in Kansas City, MO 64108. This is a Full-Time exempt position with a competitive salary.

Position Summary:

The Retail Marketing Manager
is responsible for
bringing Proper’s brand to life
across
all retail
environments,
our own
dispensaries,
and our partner network. This role bridges marketing strategy with in-store execution, ensuring our campaigns, displays, and materials drive awareness, conversion, and loyalty.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining a scalable visual merchandising toolkit for Proper's owned retail stores and 3rd-party retail partners;
  • Ensuring Proper products are prominently displayed, compliant, and visually aligned with brand standards;
  • Partnering with Retail Operations to execute seasonal refreshes, window displays, and campaign rollouts;
  • Optimizing product placement on shelves and enhancing the overall in-store customer experience;
  • Mentoring retail and brand ambassador teams to develop visual merchandising expertise in the field;
  • Partnering with Retail Revenue and Purchasing teams to lead co-marketing efforts with 3rd-party vendors and brand partners;
  • Partnering with the Sales leadership team to develop and implement strategies to grow revenue with wholesale partners;
  • Fostering strong, long-term relationships with trade partners to ensure they are motivated to promote the products;
  • Serving as the key liaison between Retail Operations and the Marketing team to ensure cohesive brand storytelling and timely execution of programs;
  • Building feedback loops from store to marketing to inform future campaigns and in-store improvements;
  • Analyzing market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activities to develop target campaigns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field, and 5-7 years of experience in marketing or trade marketing;
  • Experience managing in-store campaigns, merchandising programs, and product displays;
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and ability to lead through influence;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in the cannabis industry preferred;
  • Must be 21 years of age or older;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Missouri Agent ID;

This position requires the ability to work seated for several hours at a time and the ability to

pounds occasionally. Some filing is

he work environment is an air-conditioned, smoke-free office environment. The constant exposure to cannabis particulates can be expected within this environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This position may require travel up to 25%
of the time.
