Job Title: Cardiology Medical Assistant (MA)

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cardiology Medical Assistant to support our providers in delivering exceptional cardiovascular care. This role is ideal for an experienced MA who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and is confident in both clinical and administrative workflows.
The Cardiology MA will play a critical role in patient flow, diagnostic support, and care coordination, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and an excellent patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination, including:
o Vital signs (manual BP preferred)
o EKG acquisition and interpretation readiness
o Medication reconciliation and history review
- Perform and assist with cardiology-specific procedures, including:
o 12-lead EKGs
o Holter monitor placement/removal
o Event monitors and cardiac telemetry setup
o Stress test preparation and support
- Ensure proper documentation of all clinical activities in the EMR (e.g., eClinicalWorks)
- Maintain exam room readiness, including stocking, cleaning, and equipment calibration
- Recognize and escalate abnormal findings (e.g., arrhythmias, elevated BP, chest pain)
Patient Flow & Coordination
- Manage patient flow from check-in to discharge efficiently
- Room patients in a timely manner while maintaining accuracy
- Assist providers with exams and procedures
- Provide patient education on medications, procedures, and follow-ups
- Coordinate referrals, diagnostics, and follow-up appointments
Administrative Responsibilities
- Document accurately and timely within EMR
- Process orders, labs, imaging, and referrals
- Support prior authorization workflows when needed
- Assist with inbox/task management (e.g., labs, messages, results)
Quality & Compliance
- Adhere to all clinical protocols and SOPs
- Ensure accurate patient identification and documentation
- Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2+ years Medical Assistant experience (cardiology preferred)
- Strong clinical skills and ability to multitask
- Experience working in a fast-paced outpatient setting
- Proficiency in EMR systems
Certification Requirement
- Certification preferred at time of hire (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent)
- If not certified, must obtain certification within 12 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Cardiology experience strongly preferred
- Experience with:
o EKG interpretation basics
o Cardiac monitoring devices
o Stress testing workflows
- Strong understanding of cardiovascular terminology
