Cardiology Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cardiology Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic cardiovascular team. The provider will work closely with cardiologists and healthcare professionals to evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions in both outpatient and hospital-based settings.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and an interest in cardiovascular medicine, including preventive cardiology, chronic disease management, and post-hospital follow-up care. Experience in cardiology is preferred; however, candidates with strong internal medicine, hospitalist, emergency medicine, or primary care backgrounds and a willingness to learn cardiology are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and vital signs, specifically focusing on cardiac health.
  • Assess and manage patients with cardiovascular conditions such as hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, hyperlipidemia, and related disorders
  • Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests including EKGs, labs, imaging studies, stress tests, echocardiograms, and other cardiovascular diagnostics
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
  • Prescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness
  • Provide post-hospitalization follow-up and transitional care management
  • Educate patients and family members regarding diagnoses, medications, lifestyle modifications, and preventive cardiovascular care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record
  • Coordinate care with primary care physicians, specialists, hospitals, and ancillary providers
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and value-based care programs
  • Participate in patient care coordination, chronic care management, and preventive health initiatives

Skills

  • Current California Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license
  • Master’s degree from an accredited PA or NP program
  • DEA license and furnishing number (if applicable)
  • Prior cardiology experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience in internal medicine, urgent care, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or primary care is a plus
  • Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
