A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) background in Arvada, CO. This role offers a dynamic environment within a specialized 24-bed Cardiothoracic ICU, providing comprehensive circulatory and respiratory support to critically ill adults. Nurses in this unit care for patients undergoing complex procedures such as open-heart surgeries, ventricular assist devices, heart and lung transplants, ECMO, and vascular and thoracic surgeries.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver expert nursing care employing vasoactive medications and advanced cardio-pulmonary support

Collaborate closely within a multidisciplinary team focused on holistic patient care and education

Maintain patient safety and quality outcomes with nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:2, 1:1 to 2:1 depending on acuity

Document all care and treatment using the Epic electronic health record system

Float between units as needed to support patient care across similar specialty areas
Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of CVICU nursing experience; first-time CVICU nurses with related critical care experience are considered

Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required

Valid Colorado or Compact RN license

Ability to work nights with a 3x12-hour rotating schedule (19:00 - 07:30)

Flexibility to meet weekend and floating requirements (6 weekend shifts per 6-week period, on-call duties)
