1. Coordinates the scheduling of appointments for physicians in the practice or surgical procedures (i.e. Colonoscopy, EGD, ACBE, Flex Sigmoidoscopy, Capsule Endoscopy), and other special tests as directed by physicians, and ensures patients receive specific instructions.
2. Inform patients of physician orders or special instructions prior to appointment or procedure. Explain screening or diagnostic procedure process to patients.
3. Monitor and address personal and endoscopy buckets on a daily basis, not to exceed 24 hours.
4. Answer incoming calls, which may include screening call, taking messages and providing information to patients, physicians, providers, hospitals, and staff.
5. Document clinical information, including patient phone calls, accurately and in a timely manner.
6. Provide patient instructions according to physician orders, standing orders and established policies and procedures.
7. Report patient concerns and symptoms, reactions, changes (appropriate to age) to licensed clinic personnel.
8. Submit travel requests for village patients to the TCC travel department to alert them of the need for future travel arrangements.
9. Assist in training of new team members and ongoing staff training. May provide input to the Group Supervisor regarding employee performance.
10. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with current and potential referral sources, internal and external.
11. Receive telephone calls, faxes, internet messages regarding the initiation of a referral or the scheduling patient as a result of an existing referral.
12. Confirm that the procedure is authorized by Purchased Referred Care prior to scheduling.
13. Notify Prior Auth Specialist after scheduling each patient.
14. Scrub patient charts for endoscopists specific red flags and confirm whether they recommend scheduling with or without anesthesia.
15. Keep log of patients scheduled, screening and diagnostic procedures completed, canceled appointments, no show appointments, ANMC scope referrals, etc.
16. Send outreach letters to patients you are unable to reach to alert them of their referral.
