BRIDGE is a comprehensive educational and training program specifically designed for young adults with disabilities who have completed high school. Our program helps participants ‘bridge the gap’ between school and independence by enhancing their opportunities for meaningful and sustained employment. Our dedicated team of instructors provides the essential skill training needed to maintain employment and thrive in both personal and professional settings. Through targeted instruction in hard and soft skills, self-advocacy, and independent living and community skills, combined with daily community-based volunteer experiences, we empower our participants to lead successful lives and careers.

Community Workforce Solutions, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Instructor to join our BRIDGE team and provide high-quality job skills training to individuals with disabilities within the program and community setting. The ideal candidate has experience in teaching or training individuals with disabilities, has a strong understanding of disability rights and accommodations, and is committed to empowering individuals to achieve their employment goals. Our Employment Specialist team partners closely with BRIDGE by offering job coaching and workplace support, celebrating each participant’s achievements and creating a positive, enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Responsibilities

Creating and Teaching Lessons:
  • Create and implement engaging educational opportunities to prepare adult learners for the workforce (e.g. resume creation, laundry skills, & interview prep), including activity plans and instructional materials that align with participant needs and goals.

  • Provide instruction in various areas related to vocational skills and independent living.


Volunteer Outings:
  • Join participants in community-based activities including volunteering and outings focused on expanding daily employment and living skills.

  • Utilize effective teaching strategies to engage and motivate adult learners in the field.


Assessm
ent and Team Collaboration:
  • Assess participant progress and provide feedback on their performance by collecting and analyzing data, communicating findings with their care team, and using these insights to adjust teaching strategies and participant goals.

  • Collaborate with other professionals and care providers to support participant success.

Required Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, sociology, special education, rehabilitation or a related human services field and/or three years’ experience in rehabilitation or equivalent combination of education/experience preferred.

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to drive a 12-passenger van with training.

  • Must have a valid NC Driver’s License and driving record adhering to Agency standards


Physical Requirements

  • The position is considered sedentary to light, requiring 50% sedentary and 50% mobility.

  • Lifting less than 10 pounds.

  • Requires visual observation and the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals.


Compensation

  • $20.00 - $22.50 per hour
