Caregiver

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver who is fluent in Mandarin to provide exceptional support and assistance to our clients. This vital role involves ensuring safety, promoting independence for those who can, supporting the health and well-being of clients, providing companionship, and personalized care plans all while being compassionate. Roles will be carried out in clients homes. This position requires a commitment to improving the quality of life for each client while adhering to all state regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
• Monitor patient health by checking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature regularly
• Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking
• Conduct patient observation to identify changes in condition or behavior, especially in cases involving dementia, Alzheimer’s, or developmental disabilities
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing living spaces
• Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to safely transfer clients with mobility challenges

Skills

• Proven experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care environments
• Knowledge of patient care techniques including CPR, first aid, and vital signs monitoring
• Experience working with individuals with autism, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other memory care needs
• Ability to work effectively with people with disabilities or developmental disabilities in group home settings or community care programs
• Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and reporting changes in condition accurately
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of client information
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts

Documentation and Compliance:

• Maintain accurate and timely records of services provided, client activities, and any incidents or observations.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable state regulations, including maintaining confidentiality and client privacy.

Safety and Emergency Response:

• Ensure the client’s home environment is safe, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, following established procedures and protocols.

Companionship and Emotional Support:

• Provide companionship, engage clients in conversation, and support social and recreational activities.
• Offer emotional support and build a trusting, respectful relationship with clients and their families.

Must be able to provided:

Experience: Previous experience in caregiving or home care is preferred but not required.

Licensing: Must be registered as a Home Care Aide with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and fill out an acknowledgment of requirements to report suspected abuse.

Training: Completion of required training, including CPR and First Aid certification.

Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting. All out of pocket.

Health Requirements: Must complete a tuberculosis (TB) test and provide proof of clearance. Offer emotional support and build a trusting, respectful relationship with clients and their families.
