Responsibilities

  • Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately and promptly
  • Administer medications and follow prescribed care plans in accordance with HIPAA regulations and safety protocols
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed
  • Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices safely to support mobility and prevent injury
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring hygiene standards are met
  • Support residents’ emotional well-being through compassionate communication and social engagement
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and team members to deliver comprehensive patient care
  • Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community activities, promoting social interaction and independence
  • Follow all safety procedures including CPR, First Aid, and emergency response protocols during incidents or health crises
  • Document care activities accurately while respecting patient privacy rights under HIPAA guidelines
  • Participate in ongoing training related to dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, autism support, hospice care, or other specialized areas as needed

Experience

  • Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home health agencies, or group homes is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs
  • Hands-on experience assisting with ADLs and providing personal care with compassion and professionalism
  • Familiarity with medication administration procedures and safety standards in healthcare settings
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease is advantageous
  • Knowledge of infection control practices including proper cleaning protocols and use of assistive devices like Hoyer lifts
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
  • Ability to lift heavy objects safely when assisting residents with mobility needs
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and engage with residents empathetically
