Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability
- Administer medication as prescribed, following HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy and safety
- Support memory care needs through personalized routines and engaging activities tailored for dementia or Alzheimer’s patients
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and preferences while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area
- Conduct patient observation to identify changes in condition or behavior, alerting healthcare professionals as necessary
- Maintain a clean, safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing
- Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident’s personal assistive devices to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance
- Follow detailed care plans created by healthcare providers to deliver consistent and effective support
- Document care activities accurately while respecting patient confidentiality under HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience in senior care, home health, assisted living, or nursing home environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care techniques, and hospice support methods
- Certification or training in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications in patient monitoring or medication administration are advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when assisting residents with mobility or transfers
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is a plus
- Strong observational skills to monitor patient condition and respond promptly to needs or emergencies
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills to build trust and rapport with residents and their families
