Duties
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols while adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining strict confidentiality of medical records.
- Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to assess patient health status.
- Assist residents or patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, mobility support, and hygiene care.
- Support specialized care needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, and dementia or memory care activities to promote comfort and safety.
- Document all patient interactions and medical procedures precisely using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems like Epic or Cerner for seamless medical documentation.
- Observe and report changes in condition or behavior promptly to nursing staff or healthcare providers.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals with disabilities or those requiring hospice or palliative care.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic nursing skills such as medication administration and vital signs measurement.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is advantageous.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia enhances your ability to deliver personalized care.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and medical documentation standards is essential.
- Certification as a Medication Technician or similar caregiving credential is required; ongoing training in Alzheimer’s care, hospice support, and acute care is beneficial.
