Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and feeding to ensure their comfort and dignity.
- Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; document findings accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques.
- Support medical procedures including catheter care, phlebotomy, and wound dressing under supervision or according to training.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care, ICU, emergency medicine, behavioral health, and post-acute settings to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assistive devices for patient mobility and safety during transfers.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation, track patient progress, and communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding changes in condition or concerns.
Experience
- Prior experience working in medical-surgical units, ICU, emergency departments, or specialized areas such as pediatrics or geriatrics is highly valued.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms.
- Experience in long-term care facilities like nursing homes or assisted living communities is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care strategies, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities enhances your ability to provide tailored support.
- Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), medication administration licenses, or CNA certification are required; additional training in infection control or trauma center procedures is advantageous.
- Familiarity with advanced clinical procedures including aseptic technique, ICU protocols, hospice care practices, and Level I/II trauma center standards is beneficial.
